Where: Angeles Crest Christian Camp (San Gabriel Mountains - 90 minutes from Orange County or LA)

Time: The retreat will begin with check-in on Friday evening between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. Dinner will not be served on Friday night, but we will have a couple of pieces of hot pizza ready for you to snack on before the opening session. The snack bar will also be open for you to get some munchies before we get started. The retreat will conclude on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
GUEST SPEAKER: ROB DENTON, WEST VALLEY CHRISTIAN CHURCH, WEST HILLS
We're super excited to have Rob Denton as our main speaker for the weekend. Rob Denton has been a Pastor at West Valley Christian Church for over 25 years, where he has served as the Young Adults Pastor and most recently transitioned to the Lead Pastor of West Valley Christian Church. Rob also serves on the board of Directors of South Seas Christian Ministries and Angeles Crest Christian Camp.
Rob was born and raised in California where he enjoys playing most sports, especially golf and baseball. He also is an avid collector of sports memorabilia. Rob graduated from Pacific Christian College with a B.A. in Church Growth with an emphasis on preaching. He became a Christian at the age of 18 and loves being a part of seeing life change in men.
Rob has been married to his wife Lisa for 26 years and they have two sons, Drew, who is a Paramedic Fireman for LA City and Easton, who attends West Valley Christian School. He loves the Dodgers and he coaches his son's baseball team. Your men will be challenged by Rob's straightforward ability to communicate God's Word into practical principles for godly living.
WORSHIP LEADER: DEVAN BUMSTEAD, FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH, NEWBURY PARK
Encounter. Hope. Adoption. Response. These are just a few themes that praise leader Devan Bumstead desires to communicate though his music. Devan has a passion for helping the church encounter and respond to Jesus. His aim is to invite the Word of Christ to dwell in the gathered body’s midst as he teaches and challenges us with Spirit-filled music, reaching towards to the ultimate goal of fostering lifestyles of sacrificial worship. (Col. 3:16; Ro. 12:1-2). Devan has been leading the local church in worship and praise for over 10 years and currently leads at Newbury Park First Christian Church in SoCal. He is working on his first solo album, “Eyes Wide Open,” set to release in the Fall of 2015. Devan is married to his wife, Tina, his compassionate and gracious bride of 8 years.
RETREAT HOST: DAVE CROUSE, ANGELES CREST CHRISTIAN CAMP
Dave is the Executive Director for Angeles Crest Christian Camp ministries and will serve as our host for the retreat. Dave has been involved with Angeles Crest for over 25 years as a church counselor, camp speaker, Program Director, and now as Executive Director. Dave has a passion to see men live up to their potential and follow God with all of their heart. He will be pulling out all the stops to make this a powerful weekend that will change lives through God's spirit. Dave lives in Corona with his wife Dani, and has four grown adult children and three very cute grandchildren!! Dave loves everything that has to do with Apple technology, is a big sports fan and loves to play golf!
Our theme for the weekend is "MLB"!! No, that's not Major League Baseball but "MEN LIVING BOLDLY" for Jesus Christ!! We'll be challenging our men to stand up and live their lives boldly and unashamedly for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Come be encouraged to step out of the shadows and be men of courage and faith. Learn some key principles that will help you to stand strong in your Christian faith despite what our secular culture says.
Our program for the weekend includes four main chapel sessions where you’ll be able to participate in some spirit-filled worship and also hear some practical and challenging messages from God’s Word! In addition, you'll be able to attend some special seminars that will be designed to help you grow in specific areas of your life as a man of God. You’ll have time to relax throughout the weekend or have the opportunity to use the various recreational events/activities up at the camp. Check out the basic schedule for the weekend below...
On Saturday afternoon we will have a number of activities for you to choose from including: sports tournaments (whiffle ball, ping pong, basketball, and horseshoes), paintball (additional fee required), the climbing wall, archery, the Zip Line, and our newest addition - skeet shooting! We also will lead a hike that afternoon on one of our trails for those that want to explore the beauty of the Angeles National Forest. Or you may just want to sit back and relax under a tree and enjoy the serenity of God's creation! We have plenty of events and activities to keep you busy throughout the weekend.
"MILE HIGH" PAINTBALL
Our Milehigh Paintball Course will be open on Saturday for all those who would like to participate. To participate in the paintball program there is a $15.00 one-time field fee which includes a paintball gun, CO2 cartridge, paint, and a protective mask. We give all participants enough paint to play an average of three games. If you go through your paint at a rapid rate, you can purchase more paint at the field. You must fill out a paintball waiver form in order to play paintball - This form will also be available at the paintball field.
WHAT TO BRING
Here are some of the items you should bring to the men’s retreat: First things first, make sure you bring a BIBLE to use for all the meetings. Other items include a pillow, a sleeping bag or blankets, clothes for recreation, a coat/sweatshirt for the cooler evening weather, a towel, and toiletries. There is also a camp store which has snacks, drinks, food items as well as camp clothing so you might want to bring some spending money for some of those items. (Special note: We will also be collecting an offering at the camp which will go toward a special project for getting the camp ready for summer!)
