Angeles Crest Update: News & Stories from Our Community
September 2025
Harvest Homecoming was a Huge Hit!

We had a great turnout at our first ever Harvest Homecoming on Saturday, September 13th! About 140 guests (including many first time guests) enjoyed the live music by Wheelhouse with line dancing, game booths, a hay ride, camp tours with our Executive Director, Dave Crouse and Camp Director, Brian Shaw. There was also zip lining, archery, a pie eating contest and more. Here is what one of the attendees, and longtime Angeles Crest family member, Reba Harrison had to say:
“This event was awesome! [My daughter] and I were so impressed with the growth in so many areas. We love the camp and were so happy we were able to come.”

We had such a great time seeing old friends and meeting new people at the camp open house. Thank you to everyone who joined us. I hope you had a fantastic day on the mountain and enjoyed seeing how camp has been growing and pouring into the next generation.

North Cabin Remodel Phase 1 is almost complete!
The North Cabin Project has been making tremendous progress the last couple of months since campers made their way off the mountain at the end of summer. Our construction team is hoping to have the bathrooms fully completed and operational in October. That means that our inaugural Young Adult Camp will be some of the first to enjoy the brand new bathrooms in the north cabins.

I am so excited about this first phase of transformation taking place in the old “Girl’s Town”. Even though I haven’t been a camper for about 20 years, I am a little jealous that future campers will be able to take a shower without leaving the cabin and walking to the Ponderosa bathrooms. But, more than anything, I am overwhelmed by the people that made this project possible.
Thank you to everyone that donated to our Christmas Fundraiser last year and also to First Christian Church Long Beach for including Angeles Crest as a beneficiary of the sale of their church. It is because of all of you that we were able to complete not only one cabin, but four cabins! God provided more than we ever expected, and I know He will do the same when we are ready for Phase 2 and we take on the final five cabins. Keep an eye out for more updates on this project here.
Staff Spotlight: Daria Nisly
Please join me in welcoming one of our newest year round staff members, Daria Nisly, who was recently promoted from Summer Staff to Housekeeping Manager. I asked her some questions so we could get to know her a little better. Here are her answers.
My name is Daria Nisly. I was born and raised in Kansas and I am 1 out of 10 [children]! I grew up in a conservative Mennonite Church and when I was 8, we switched to a nondenominational church and there I accepted Jesus as my Savior.
In 2023, I did a discipleship program called Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Montana. There I met Garrett Shaw who talked about [Angeles Crest] often. I came to his wedding last October and met everyone who worked at ACCC and in the spring applied for summer staff. At the beginning of summer, God was working in my heart and I felt that ACCC was where I was supposed to be! I told God if He wanted me here after the summer, then He needed to open up that opportunity and He did!

Some of my favorite memories are laughing and having fun with everyone, but I think my most favorite memories are when I am helping kids overcome their fear of the zipline. Watching them as they stand there afraid before they take that leap. I love seeing them come back with joy in their eyes because it was so fun.
I love to make crafts, write letters, read, and be with friends! I love looking through old Reminisce magazines and dressing up like I was in 1950! I am an old soul at heart and love antiques and thrifting.
My favorite movie that I never get tired of watching is Seven Brides for Seven Brothers! My favorite song that is sweet and endearing is “From the Ground Up” by Dan + Shay!
Our Prayer Request
Pray for the leadership of Angeles Crest, including the Board of Directors (pictured here) and Camp Staff. We pray that God would inspire them with a bold vision and plans for the 2026 ministry year.
“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
– Jeremiah 29:11
