EXPANDING OUR VISION, ELEVATING THE VIEW

The Vista Project

June 2026 Update:

In 2023, Angeles Crest announced The Vista Project at the 75th Anniversary Gala that would transform the camp and help accomplish our goal of reaching 10,000 campers every year with a new building that we plan to use as a brand new 350 seat dining room and meeting space

Since then, Executive Director Dave Crouse has been submitting plans and paperwork with the Forest Service in order to obtain approval for the new building. We are happy to report that the Forest Service has recently given Angeles Crest conditional approval for the Vista Project! This allows to move forward with obtaining bids for construction.

While we waited for their response, we stayed busy in anticipation of good news. Before we could move forward with the Vista Project, we have been completing other projects we felt were needed to be done prior to the construction of our new building. This included adding much needed air conditioning to our meeting rooms, a tent covering to the outside deck of the dining hall, new roofs on eight of the camper cabins in the north area as well as adding new bathrooms to four of those cabins.

What’s Next? In September, Angeles Crest staff will have a Vision Meeting outlining plans and timelines for the Vista Project and related projects. Keep your eye out for more updates here.

Why “Vista”?

The name comes from the breathtaking view.
This new building will be located at the heart of our camp, where the western sky stretches out over the mountain ridges, offering unforgettable sunsets and a stunning reminder of God’s beauty.

It’s more than a building—it’s a space for people to gather, worship, and encounter God in creation.

Why we need the Vista Project

Right now, we’re limited.

With only three small meeting spaces, our capacity to serve multiple groups is maxed out. This constrains our growth and limits opportunities to teach, worship, and connect.

But our vision is big:

We want to see 10,000 people encounter Christ at Angeles Crest each year.

Today, we serve about 6,500.

To get there, we need more space.

The Vista Project is a two-phase construction plan that will:

  • Phase 1: Build a 350-seat meeting room
  • Phase 2: Add a full-service kitchen to create a dual-purpose dining and meeting space

This building will help us grow in the right way: with space to gather, to eat, to worship—and to welcome more people into life-changing experiences at camp.

The Plan & Location

The new facility will be built at the very center of our camp, on the current basketball court. Nestled between the north and south cabin areas, it will provide easy access for every camper and guest.

Even more, it will sit on one of the most beautiful spots on our property—with a majestic vista of the surrounding mountains and sky.

Project Progress & Timeline

We’ve already begun laying the foundation—both literally and spiritually.

  • April 2023: Began architectural planning with Fleetmeyer & Lee
  • October 2023: Held our 75th Anniversary Gala and raised $325,000 toward Phase 1
  • July 2024: Submitted building plans and met with the U.S. Forest Service
  • Now: Awaiting final approval from the Forest Service to move forward

Angeles Crest operates under a special-use permit on U.S. Forest Service land. Once we receive final approval, we’re ready to take the next big steps.

How You Can Help

We can’t do this without you. Your gift to the Vista Project will help us:

  • Reach more people for Christ
  • Create space for worship, teaching, and community
  • Build a beautiful, lasting place for life-changing encounters with Jesus

Every gift—large or small—makes a difference.
