Eaton Fire Impact (Bad News & Good News)
Over the past months, so many of you reached out to check on camp after the Eaton Fire broke out in Altadena on Jan. 7th. While we were lucky to be out of the fire’s path, we unfortunately had to cancel multiple groups due to the closure of the Angeles National Forest in the month of January. As many of you know, because of the Forest Service’s closure, Angeles Crest lost over $80,000 in revenue. When we reached out with that disappointing news last month, you responded.
Prayer Request:
We will continue to reach out and pray for those who have been impacted by the fire, especially those who have lost their homes or businesses during this challenging time. Please join us in lifting up the thousands of people who have been affected by all the terrible fires in Los Angeles County.
Praise the Lord! Camp is open again!
Angeles Crest has officially reopened and we welcomed our first group of 100 campers for Youth Winter Camp two weeks ago. It was an incredible weekend filled with joy, hope and Jesus and the relevant theme of “Be Real”. Here is what Program Director, Nicole Shaw, had to say about it:
“We had a rough time when group after group had to cancel with the forest closure [due to the fires]. We’re here to serve campers and it was just too long without them. We’re so grateful to have camps again! Our staff are busy cooking meals, running the zipline, setting up sound, picking up trash, cleaning toilets….and we LOVE IT ALL! We’re halfway through our Youth Winter Camps and they don’t disappoint. Chapel has worship, [the] amphitheater has s’mores and church groups are meeting all over to talk about Being Real in their Faith.”
