Angeles Crest Update: News & Stories from Our Community

Preteen Winter Camp Recap

Preteen Camp this year was a true winter wonderland. God, in His perfect timing, sent over two feet of snow in the days leading up to camp. The kids reveled in all the snow activities, like sledding, snowball fights and snowman making. Program Director, Keith Poletiek, shared the appropriately titled series “Stay Warm” and emphasized how we all need “S’more Jesus”. To top off the weekend, 25 students made first-time decisions to follow Jesus!

See this great story Children’s Pastor Crystal Stenner from Newbury Park FCC shared:

“A third-grade boy who hadn’t been to church was invited to camp by a friend. He’s had a tough year as he lost his dad last fall. A week before camp, he got nervous & wanted to cancel. I had asked his mom to bring him to church a few weeks before to get to know some friends, but she wasn’t able to. Then two days before camp he showed up at our Wednesday night program and had a blast and was super excited about camp. Camp was absolutely awesome for him. While at camp, he said he wanted to start coming to church.Ten days after camp, I got a text from his mom asking if he could sign up for our Wednesday program! He had a blast again last night. Camp was a great opportunity for this kid to be introduced to God’s family and all the love, excitement & encouragement that comes with it.”

This is exactly what camp is all about! There are countless stories like this that happen every year. Thank you to all the leaders who bring their kids up the mountain to make life change happen. You can check out the preteen recap video here. Don’t miss some of the epic sledding runs in the second half.

Angels in the Outfield

Last year, Angeles Crest started a new tradition by inviting our past and present camp family to join staff for a fun night out at a Dodger Game. We had such a great time seeing everyone that we decided we had to do it again.

This year we are making some changes.

First, we will be heading down to Orange County to see the Anaheim Angels (aka LA Angels) take on the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, June 13th at 7 p.m. Not only will we be attending the game in Club Level seats, but we will be tailgating starting at 5 p.m. under the Big “A” and would love to catch up with all of you before heading into the game.

Tailgate Bonus: Angeles Crest will be providing food and drinks at NO COST! Plus, after the game, the Angels will have Saturday Night Fireworks! Does it get any better?

Discounted Tickets are only $49 (normally $70) and are in the Club Level with padded seating and in-seat food service!

We only have 50 tickets available, so don’t wait! You can order tickets and get more details on our website.

This event is for anyone who loves Angeles Crest! We hope to see you all there. Go Halos!

Mother-Daughter Retreat Sign-ups Happening Now!

Don’t miss out on this year’s spa-themed Mother-Daughter retreat on May 29-31.

This year’s theme “Be Still”, reflecting on Psalm 46:10, is a perfect reminder to slow down and focus on what’s important.

Enjoy the weekend with your daughter (or granddaughter or niece) while growing closer to God and each other. You will hear from speaker Pam Young and worship from Mandie Pinto, which will be sure to fill your soul. Sign up now!

We need YOU at Volunteer Work Day!

We need volunteers like you to help Angeles Crest get ready for summer. If you want to spend a day in the mountains and do a little community service at the same time, we have just the thing for you. Volunteer Work Day is back!

Join us on Saturday, May 9th, to get camp ready for the hundreds of campers coming up for the summer. This is a great opportunity to get your kids involved in serving, or bring your youth group up for a team project, or spend time with the family away from distraction while giving back.

Volunteers are invited to arrive Friday night and stay in a cabin – free of charge! Or, you can come up just for the day on Saturday to help with some projects. All meals will be provided. Just let us know you’re coming. You can see more details and register on our website here.

Prayer Request

PRAY FOR OUR CHURCHES as they celebrate Easter Sunday and that they will provide an impactful experience. Praise God that Man Camp is already full and has a waiting list for guys to get in. Pray MAN CAMP is powerful and the men will be encouraged and strengthened in their faith.

“The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” – Matthew 28:5-6a
